OH HEY,

I’M CHARLEY.

A true romantic bringing heart, humour and vibes to every ceremony.

A woman in a white dress is giving a speech at a wedding reception, smiling as a man in a white shirt and tie laughs, with a woman in red and two older men also smiling and clapping in the background.

Ever since I was young, I was always so interested in people’s love stories, how they met and what their wedding day looked like.

I can still recall the first time being shown my Grandparent’s wedding album and being obsessed! It was fascinating to me to hear how they met, their first date and that my Great-Grandmother made my Grandmother’s wedding dress (so gorgeous by the way).

Then in August 2025, it was my time and I married my University sweetheart. During the two and a half year planning process, I fell even more in love with all things love, romance and weddings.

At a loss with my previous job as a teacher, I needed to re-enlighten my creative spark, try something new and ultimately be brave by being my own boss. So, inspired by my past and utilising my skills, I decided to train as an Independent Celebrant.

And I haven’t looked back since…

A group of people celebrating at a party. One woman in the center is wearing a white dress, gold sunglasses, and sticking out her tongue, making a peace sign with her hand while holding a glass of drink. Other guests are smiling and holding drinks, some wearing sunglasses, in a party setting with warm lighting.

A little about me…

My name is Charley (she/her). I am an Independent Celebrant based in Saffron Walden, Essex. I absolutely love getting to know people and their journey. I’m a natural chatterbox, a great listener, and genuinely fascinated by people’s stories - which is exactly why celebrancy is such a perfect fit for me.

My vibe sits somewhere between a pub quiz with a Guinness and on the dancefloor with an Aperol Spritz in hand. I’m usually the last one dancing (especially if there’s 70s disco, Pitbull or Olivia Dean playing - my music taste is wonderfully eclectic).

Give me a long walk on the beach or through Epping Forest, a coffee in hand, and someone to chat to, and I’m very happy. In a past life I was a PE teacher, so I’m happiest when I’m active, outdoors or trying my hand at a new sport. All those years of teaching means I am experienced in public speaking, storytelling, crowd control, and staying calm when things don’t go to plan (including hungry guests!). If I can hold the attention of 30 students in a cold, rainy PE lesson, I can definitely keep your guests entertained!

When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me playing Netball or cooking my world-famous Sunday Roast (self-proclaimed- however many have said I make phenomenal roast potatoes…).

We knew that Charley was the right choice for us. She is the perfect mix of professionalism, knowledge, creativity and fun and we have really enjoyed planning our important day with her help. With her performing the ceremony we just know it will be a day to remember.

MY APPROACH TO CEREMONIES

I am someone who genuinely believes that ceremonies should be relaxed, joyful, meaningful, with sprinkles of laughter thrown in. As an ex-teacher, I am organised, calm under pressure, and very comfortable speaking in front of a crowd — whether that’s an intimate gathering or a big, lively celebration. I’ve got it covered!

I believe the best ceremonies feel natural, personal and completely true to the people at the heart of them. There’s no boxes to tick, and absolutely no “one size fits all”. I take the time to really get to know you - your relationship, your personalities, the little moments that matter most - so that your ceremony feels authentic rather than rehearsed.

If you think I might be a good fit,

I’d love to hear from you.
