WEDDINGS
Your Ceremony, Your Way!
WHY CHOOSE A CELEBRANT-LED WEDDING?
Choosing a celebrant for your wedding means maximum flexibility, inclusivity, and personalisation. You collaborate with your celebrant to design a ceremony that can take place anywhere, at any time, and exactly how you envision it. Dream of a ceremony featuring a family sing-a-long? Absolutely! Want your children to have a starring role? That's easily arranged.
An added benefit is that a celebrant-led wedding can be a cost-effective choice. Since you aren't tied to a licensed venue, you don't need to factor that significant expense into achieving your perfect ceremony.
GET TO KNOW YOUR CELEBRANT
With CG Celebrancy, our journey together starts long before your wedding day. While many officiants only meet you moments before the ceremony, my approach is different.
We will be in touch throughout your planning period because my goal is to truly get to know you as a couple. This personal connection is the key to creating your beautiful, bespoke ceremony.
As your celebrant, I'm here to guide you every step of the way, and by the time your special day arrives, we'll feel like the best of friends.
One of the greatest advantages of choosing an Independent Celebrant for your wedding is the complete freedom it provides.
You are not limited by restrictions on time, location, or the content of your ceremony. This means your dream wedding can happen exactly when, where, and how you envision it.
I am also committed to creating inclusive ceremonies, and joyfully honouring love in all its forms. Your wedding ceremony should feel authentic and truly represent you as a couple.

THE WEDDING PROCESS
-
Once you have paid your £200 deposit and signed your contract, your wedding day will be locked in and only reserved for you.
-
During the script writing process, I will set up a WhatsApp chat with you for us to share ideas, thoughts and inspiration! See a cute idea on TikTok? Send it over! It is a great opportunity to have all of our creative ideas in one place.
I will send you a questionnaire so that I can start to create the backbone of your script. This will include your past journey, future goals and any elements you may wish to include in your ceremony.
We will then have a planning meeting either on a call or face to face to discuss your questionnaire answers and for you to ask me any questions or share ideas.
Lastly, I very much love the opportunity to meet you face to face before the big day. Depending on the circumstances, a lovely opportunity is to visit your venue or having a ceremony run through. The great part of having a celebrant-led ceremony is that you get to know the person who is sharing your story. Establishing a relationship is so important so that you feel at ease.
-
Using all of the inspiration from our interactions, I will start to create your dream script! A few weeks before the big day, I will get in touch with you and share your script (unless you want it to be a surprise…). We will also confirm the finalised plans for the day, readings you have chosen and anything other information vital to your day.
-
Finally it is time to marry the love of your life! I will arrive at least one hour before the ceremony, liaise with the other suppliers and set up any aspects of the ceremony that we have planned. All you need to do is enjoy this magical moment.
“Absolutely outstanding - Charley was perfect in all respects, she really did make the day very special!
A big thank you from the Father of the groom!”

Frequently Asked Questions-
In England and Wales, celebrant-led ceremonies are not yet legally binding.
On 16th July 2026, the Government have introduced a document regarding potential changes to the Wedding Laws. This includes potentially allowing Independent Celebrants to legally marry couples. Please read my blog post to learn more about the latest update. Most couples choose to complete the legal paperwork separately with a simple registry office appointment, either before or after their wedding day. This allows you complete freedom to have your ceremony exactly how and where you want it, without restrictions.
I’ll guide you through how this works and make everything feel straightforward and stress-free, so you can focus on enjoying a truly personal and meaningful celebration.
Please checkout my blog post on this too which explains it in further detail.

A Registrar sticks to a set script and does the legal formalities. In a registrar-led ceremony, there are strictly no religious aspects. There are set times and other restrictions (such as venue).
Whereas, a celebrant-led wedding is personalised to you and is unbound by time, location and content! This is a much more bespoke, flexible and inclusive option- including where you have your ceremony, as this does not have to be in a licensed venue.
-
Of course! Love does not discriminate and neither do I.
-
Currently, yes! You do not need to have your celebrant-led ceremony in a licensed venue. Therefore, you could get married on a beach, in the woods, at home or anywhere that means the world to you.
-
Normally around 30 minutes, however as you help shape your ceremony- it can essentially be as long or short as you like!
-
Of course! With family and friends spread all over the UK (from the Cotswolds to the Lake District), I love to travel and am always happy to go wherever your wedding takes me — including abroad.
There’s no travel charge within a 40-mile radius of Saffron Walden. Beyond this, travel is charged at £0.45 per mile.
For weddings more than two hours from my home, accommodation may also be required. I’ll always discuss this with you in advance so everything is clear.
For destination weddings, travel and accommodation costs will be tailored to your plans and agreed together.
-
Yes - I absolutely love to travel and would be delighted to be part of your wedding wherever it takes place.
As destination weddings involve additional time and planning, my fee will be higher than my standard rate to cover travel and accommodation. Each wedding is quoted individually, and I’ll always provide a clear, tailored proposal.

Cute but classy. A fun, personable approach to ensure you have the best ceremony you could wish for. As your celebrant, I will work with you to plan and shape your ceremony so it is exactly how you want it to be. What truly matters to me is that the ceremony is perfect for you.
-
Don’t worry - what I wear will absolutely match your aesthetic. One of the things I ask on my questionnaire is your colour scheme and overall vibe, so I can align perfectly with your wedding day. Black tie? Sorted. Colourful 70s vibe? Perfect - I’ve got the dress. If you want to double check and approve then that is fine.
-
You do. However, I am here to guide and inspire you throughout the whole planning process so that, together, we create the perfect ceremony.
-
Yes, of course. The beauty of a celebrant-led wedding is that you can have the exact ceremony you wish.
-
Can we include children, pets or family members in our ceremony?
Definitely, the more the merrier if that is what you want!
Can we include symbolic elements in our ceremony?
Yes you can! I am happy to work with you and include symbolic, spiritual and/ or religious aspects into your ceremony if you wish. Can we include any readings, music and vows?
Definitely, I am here to guide and inspire you throughout the whole planning process so that, together, we create the perfect ceremony that includes any of these elements. -
What if the weather is not as we expected?
Do not worry, along with your venue staff and other suppliers, I will be there to ensure the ceremony is exactly how we planned. If that means, helping distributing fans or getting the guests seated as closely to the start as possible, then I will.
I will have it covered.
What if we're running late?
No worries, I only book one wedding a day so for me it does not matter if we are early or late! What if we forget our vows?
I will always have a spare version of your vows available with me on the day. Same with readings too! What if our venue doesn't have a microphone?
If we feel a microphone is needed but not provided by the venue, then I shall provide a microphone. What happens if you cannot attend our ceremony?
I trained with the Academy of Modern Celebrancy and I am a part of The Celebrant Guild. Both are fantastic networking platforms that have allowed me to create wonderful relationships with celebrants all over the country. Therefore, on the very rare occasion that I cannot attend, I will ensure that I am replaced by someone who will deliver you the ceremony exactly as you want it. They will be given the script, directed by me and will follow it exactly as we had planned
