In England and Wales, celebrant-led ceremonies are not yet legally binding.
From 16th July 2026, the Government will announce an updated Wedding Reform Law which will state if Independent Celebrants can legally marry. Most couples choose to complete the legal paperwork separately with a simple registry office appointment, either before or after their wedding day. This allows you complete freedom to have your ceremony exactly how and where you want it, without restrictions.
I’ll guide you through how this works and make everything feel straightforward and stress-free, so you can focus on enjoying a truly personal and meaningful celebration.
Please checkout my blog post on this too which explains it in further detail.

The Registrar sticks to a set script and does the legal formalities. In a registrar-led ceremony, there are strictly no religious aspects. There are set times and other restrictions (such as venue). Whereas, a celebrant-led wedding is personalised to you and is unbound by time, location and content! This is a much more bespoke, flexible and inclusive option- including where you have your ceremony, as this does not have to be in a licensed venue.
-
Yes! You do not need to get married in a licensed venue. Therefore, you could get married on a beach, in the woods, at home or anywhere that means the world to you!

An Independent Celebrant creates personalised ceremonies that celebrate you and your story. These ceremonies are not restricted by time, location or traditions! Therefore, a celebrant-led ceremony is 100% unique to you and can reflect your: personalities, faiths, past journey and future goals.
-
Normally around 30 minutes, however as you help shape your ceremony- it can essentially be as long or short as you like!

Recently, I have moved to Saffron Walden, North-West Essex which closely borders Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire (with Suffolk and Kent being around an hour away!). I used to live in London, so I know it well and still visit often.
-
Of course! With family and friends spread all over the UK (from the Cotswolds to the Lake District), I love to travel and am always happy to go wherever your wedding takes me — including abroad.
There’s no travel charge within a 40-mile radius of Saffron Walden. Beyond this, travel is charged at £0.45 per mile.
For weddings more than two hours from my home, accommodation may also be required. I’ll always discuss this with you in advance so everything is clear.
For destination weddings, travel and accommodation costs will be tailored to your plans and agreed together.
-
Yes — I absolutely love to travel and would be delighted to be part of your wedding wherever it takes place.
As destination weddings involve additional time and planning, my fee will be higher than my standard rate to cover travel and accommodation. Each wedding is quoted individually, and I’ll always provide a clear, tailored proposal.

Cute but classy. A fun, personable approach to ensure you have the best ceremony you could wish for. As your celebrant, I will work with you to plan and shape your ceremony so it is exactly how you want it to be. What truly matters to me is that the ceremony is perfect for you.
-
Don’t worry—what I wear will absolutely match your aesthetic. One of the things I ask on my questionnaire is your colour scheme and overall vibe, so I can align perfectly with your wedding day. Black tie? Sorted. Colourful 70s vibe? Perfect—I’ve got the dress. If you want to double check and approve then that is fine.
-
Of course! Love does not discriminate and neither do I.
-
You do. However, I am here to guide and inspire you throughout the whole planning process so that, together, we create the perfect ceremony.
-
Yes of course. The beauty of a celebrant-led wedding is that you can have the exact ceremony you wish.
-
Definitely, the more the merrier if that is what you want! Your wish is my command.
-
Yes you can! I am happy to work with you and include symbolic, spiritual and/ or religious aspects into your ceremony if you wish.

I trained with the Academy of Modern Celebrancy and I am a part of The Celebrant Guild. Both are fantastic networking platforms that have allowed me to create wonderful relationships with celebrants all over the country. Therefore, on the very rare occasion that I cannot attend, I will ensure that I am replaced by someone who will deliver you the ceremony exactly as you want it. They will be given the script, directed by me and will follow it exactly as we had planned
-
What if the weather is not as we expected?
Do not worry, along with your venue staff and other suppliers, I will be there to ensure the ceremony is exactly how we planned. If that means, helping distributing fans or getting the guests seated as closely to the start as possible, then I will.
I will have it covered.
What if we're running late?
No worries, I only book one wedding a day so for me it does not matter if we are early or late! What if we forget our vows?
I will always have a spare version of your vows available with me on the day. Same with readings too! What if our venue doesn't have a microphone?
If we feel a microphone is needed but not provided by the venue, then I shall provide a microphone.
